As a happy, successful pastor, Fr. William Burke suddenly had a dramatic collision with depression. He courageously shared his crisis openly with friends and parishioners. In this talk, recorded live before an audience at the Los Angeles Religious Education Congress, he explains how depression changed his spirituality and brought healing to himself and those around him. Fr. Burke notes that one in twelve Americans, at some time in life, suffers from depression. As an aid to others, he describes the signs of depression and shares insights from his own experience on what helped him. He advises seeking professional help, together with counseling and medication. He also recommends the importance of prayer and changing life patterns. Although most people can be helped, some battle the disease their whole lives. Confronting depression in healthy ways, he promises, can improve relationships with God, others, and ourselves. 1. There is a global economic crisis going on. The federal reserve and the central banks of the world are printing more and more money, and the United States government keeps spending more and more money. This debases the currency, and your purchasing power is being diminished because there is too much money in circulation chasing too few goods. The end result of this madness? Inflation and rising prices. Then to add insult to injury, taxes are being raised in all sectors of the economy which further steals your wealth. So if inflation (the stealth tax), the diminishing dollar, and an increase in taxes are the enemies of your wealth, how do you defeat these treacherous enemies? According to author Omar Johnson, you do it by investing in gold and silver. In The Complete Guide to Investing in Gold and Silver: Surviving the Great Economic Depression, he gives you the education you need to prosper as a gold and silver investor. You will be enlightened about gold and silver´s history, their performance over time, the ways to invest in them, and the potential pitfalls. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Omar Johnson. If I were to personally name the symptom I believe to be the most life-altering and the one that causes the most anguish resulting from the disease of hypothyroidism, I would have to say that for me and likely for many other hypothyroid patients, ´´depression´´ would be that symptom. Certainly anxiety can also be present in hypothyroid patients and medical research studies have revealed this fact clearly. While anxiety commonly occurs together to varying degrees with depression, true clinical depression is often the emotional disorder that can more-often lead one to severe states of anguish, hopelessness and despair. It is in fact a major cause of suicide throughout the world according to medical statistics and this is just as true of hypothyroid patients who can experience ongoing struggles with this sometimes debilitating emotional issue as I have with my own autoimmune hypothyroidism (Hashimoto´s thyroiditis). Within the chapters of this audiobook, I address this emotional symptom of an underactive thyroid gland, including descriptions of how it manifests and how hypothyroid patients can deal with it and have it treated successfully to regain an improved quality of life. I will also include medical research study quotes, found on the U.S. National Insitutes of Health medical research information website (PubMed), which allows reprints for public education purposes. It is my sincere hope that this information proves to be helpful to hypothyroid patients seeking information regarding stubborn symptoms of depression that do not resolve for them adequately in spite of being treated for their hypothyroidism. Dedication: To all of my fellow hypothyroid patients, who struggle with low mood issues as I have. It is my prayer for you, to find peace of mind and victory over your feelings of chronic depression. It is also my hope to inspire you toward successful coping and treatment through the words I offer in this audiobook. 1. Language: English. Narrator: James M. Lowrance.
